Will 17" 8 lug rims from a 2002 Ford fit a 8 lug wheel from a 1981 Ford F250?

Did the pattern change in 1998 so the new 8 lugs will not fit the older 8 lug wheels?? And if so, isn't 8 lugs, 8 lugs any way you slice it?

NO, they are different, they are close enough I have seen people install them, but the 73/97 pattern was 8 on 6" with a conical seat and the 98/04 are 8 on 170mm with a flat seat, when you force these on the added stress will break the studs eventually
