I know for sure I currently have 17" wheels on my 97 eclipse gsx but as I browse, I see wheels can be 17" x 7 and 17" x 7.5. I know the second number is the width of the wheel but I'm not sure what the width of my current wheels are.
To answer your earlier question the 2000 to 2005 Eclipse GT's and 97-99 manual transmission GSX's come with OE 17x6.5 rims. Nothing wider. I know because I worked for Mitsubishi during some that period and these are the kinds of things I pay attention
