Halo Aerotrack Fix-G track wheelset review
23.03.11
We've tested previous Halo track
wheelsets and been impressed with their toughness and quality, but what elevates this latest version is the innovative rear hub. The Fix-G replaces the thread with a shortened Shimano HG pattern spline, and the Halo HG sprockets slot on and are held with a lockring, so there’s no chance of it unwinding. Fixed wheels with a flip-flop hub (for swapping between fixed or freewheel) typically have traditional screw-on cogs. The other side of the hub has the traditional threads for running a freewheel, but if you only want to ride fixed Halo offer a cover cap that screws over them. Otherwise, the hub runs on the same buttery smooth, well sealed bearings as previous Halo wheels. The body is wide enough to tune the sprocket position with the included spacers to create the perfect chainline, and it’s wide enough to accept two cogs.
