Jeep tire question. I have stock tires and wheels but will i have to buy wider wheels With wider tires?

I have a 98 jeep wrangler with regular stock wheels and tires 30 in but i want some 30 in mud tires that are a bit wider if i get wider tires will i also have to buy wider wheels is basicly the qestion im trying to ask.
That would depend on the maximum width your wheel will handle (that would be 30x9.5 for stock). You might be able to go just a little wider, but no reputable tire shop would mount them due of liability issues. You should also consider the laws that
